YEAR 9 STUDENTS CAMP AT BLUELIGHT YOUTH CAMP MALDON, CENTRAL VICTORIA

04.02.20

Our Year 9 students along with teachers Virginia Millard, Declan Sega and Job Tai left today for a week at The Blue Light Youth Camp in Maldon. The camp experience was scheduled this early in the year to support our most senior students to build their social skills, resilience, independence, perseverance and responsibility. The program is also designed to foster interpersonal relationships with teachers and peers. Their first activity on arrival today was to visit Carman’s Tunnel which allowed them to explore and old gold mine.

Tomorrow, they will enjoy rock climbing and a bike ride to Mt Tarrangower or Lake Cairn Curran which I’ll enjoy with them. The camp program also includes a night walk through the town of Maldon, hut making and an afternoon at the Maldon swimming pool. The camp affords students with the opportunity to participate in a Bicycle Safety Program whilst enjoying the history and adventure that the camp and the town offers.
